Saw Palmetto Tea

Help with Flushing out Bacteria

The saw palmetto plant is a small palm tree that can grow anywhere in between two to four feet in height. It has a large trunk, and tends to grow in the sand near the coast. Native to the southeastern United States, it is most commonly seen in the states that stretch from South Carolina over to Texas. It produces fruits that are rich in many important healthy components, including different amino acids, fatty acids, and phytosterols, all of which can play a role in your personal health, when you drink saw palmetto tea made from them. This is particularly useful for any problems related to the prostate or urinary tract.

Much of the research that has been conducted thus far into how the saw palmetto tea could help benefit your health condition has had to do with the treatment of urinary tract infections. However, some other uses have been found for the plant and any tea that is made from it. For example, it has been shown to help fight persistent coughs, or counter any digestive problems that you may be experiencing, including irritable bowel syndrome.

This may be due to the fact that saw palmetto tea has a way of flushing out the system. If you have a buildup of different toxins, by stimulating urination, you can drive these out of your body. This mechanism is also what helps to prevent bladder or urinary tract infections in men and women alike. More people associate the saw palmetto with men's health issues only because it is used for proper prostate function. It can heal any enlargement of the prostate, or help soothe irritations of the area. More research is needed, however, to understand just how and why this works so well.

To prepare a cup of saw palmetto tea, the easiest form to obtain it is in prepackaged palmetto tea bags, which are available in regular grocery stores, online, or in natural food stores. These are left in a cup of boiling water and then can steep for anywhere from three to five minutes for the best results. Other supplementary forms of saw palmetto that you might see include capsules, tablets, or soft gels. The saw palmetto might be served on its own, or it could be combined with other diuretic ingredients for a more thorough cleansing of the digestive system and bladder. Before taking any herbal supplements, it's best to consult with your doctor.
